The problem with your argument, David, is that you completely ignore the cause of the rocket attacks - the occupation and its daily humilations, poverty, death and destruction. Apartheid is the way a number of black South Africans have described it. Israel has not only done nothing to end this situation, but continues to promote illegal settlements in the West Bank, and has made Gaza into a giant prison. What little territory Palestinians had to call their own is being gradually eroded, especially where it is useful land such as in the Jordan Valley. With many Palestinians living in refugee camps, with the only prospects for the rest of their lives being for things to get worse, its no surprise some of them want to fight back in any way they can. This is still no excuse to escalate the collective punishment of the civilian population through indiscriminate military assault. Israel should negotiate now with Hamas, with no preconditions. Until it does, I will support a campaign of Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions against Israel.

The world is awake to what is going on and the ordinary people around the world are demonstrating day in and day out calling for Palestine to be free.

In the UK we are demonstrating in towns all over the country everyday to put pressure on Israel and our government to end the murdering bombardments.

We will be demonstrating outside of Parliament on 3rd January too.

As an Israeli I can tell you I want this bloodshed to end. Right now.
For this to happen, the Hammas needs to stop shooting their missiles at Israeli towns and villages. That's it. Once they do, Israel will no longer have to shoot back. You cannot shoot at civilian population and then cry when the other side retaliats.
